Natural Cork

Cork is the bark of the cork oak (Quercus Suber L.), which means that it is a 100% natural vegetable tissue. It is formed by a hive of microscopic cells filled with an air-like gas and covered mostly by suberin and lignin. In its chemical composition, other compounds are also identified, although with less expression, such as polysaccharides, ceroids and tannins.

In a single cubic centimeter of cork, there are almost 40 million cells – about 800 million in a single cork stopper.

1SS1 is a sensory olfactory quality control method designed for high quality natural stoppers, allowing the selection of stoppers with an undetectable TCA guarantee.

The 1SS1 process individually analyzes the presence of TCA, mold and other abnormal sensory deviations in each natural cork stopper, using an olfactory control method.

This technology individually analyzes the presence of TCA in each natural cork stopper, in seconds, using an innovative technology of rapid chromatography.

This analysis, being highly accurate, allows to detect any cork containing more than 0.7 ng / L of TCA * (parts per trillion), which is automatically removed from the process.

O3 OZONE

Ozone thermal sterilization chamber is an odor cleaning technology for cork that aims to make the cork cleaner sensorially.
The cork stoppers enter a hermetically sealed chamber at a temperature of approximately 0ºC, for thermal stabilization for 48 hours. The Ozone – O3 chamber facilitates the disinfection of the cork stopper at any stage of the process, reducing the likelihood of TCA and other odors through the action of ozone.
